چکیده

Abstract We present the photometric and spectroscopic analysis of four W UMa binaries J015829.5+260333 (hereinafter as J0158), J030505.1+293443 J0305), J102211.7+310022 J1022), KW Psc. The VR c I band observations are carried out with 1.3 m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescope (DFOT). For low-resolution spectroscopy, we used 2 Himalayan Chandra (HCT) well archival data from 4 LAMOST survey. systems J0158 J0305 show a period increase rate 5.26( ± 1.72) × 10 −7 days yr −1 1.78( 1.52) −6 , respectively. J1022 is found to be decreasing 4.22 ( 1.67) . Psc displays no change in its period. Detailed Spectroscopic and Photometric Analysis of DQ White Dwarfs

We present an analysis of spectroscopic and photometric observations of cool DQ white dwarfs based on improved model atmosphere calculations. In particular , we revise the atmospheric parameters of the trigonometric parallax sample of Bergeron, Leggett, & Ruiz, and discuss the astrophysical implications on the temperature scale and mean mass, as well as the chemical evolution of these stars. We...

Contact Binaries

Despite being the most abundant (by space density) of interacting binary stars, W Ursae Majoris (W UMa) stars are not understood structurally. Their stellar components are in physical contact, and share a common convective envelope. Observations demand large-scale energy exchange between components, as do considerations of hydrostatic and thermal equilibrium. Yet solutions in complete equilibri...

Spectroscopic Analysis of Sdb Binaries from the Spy Project

In the course of our search for double degenerate binaries as potential progenitors of type Ia supernovae with the ESO VLT several new subdwarf B (sdB) binaries were discovered. In this paper, we present detailed analyses of six radial velocity variable sdB stars. Radial velocity curves have been measured. From the mass functions we derive lower limits to the masses of the unseen companions and...

Spectroscopic binaries with elliptical orbits

The radial velocity curves of many spectroscopic binaries (SBs) are perturbed by gas streams or proximity effects. For SBs with circular orbits, these perturbations can give rise to spurious orbital eccentricities of high statistical significance. But tests to identify such anomalous orbits can be constructed since perturbed velocity curves are in general no longer Keplerian. The derived tests ...
